Autodesk University 2020

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!  This year has been challenging to say the least and many of us are looking forward to meeting again and making the best of 2021.

I wish each of you a healthy, happy, and successful start to 2021!  A quick recap of my classes as Autodesk University 2020  shown below in case you want to learn more about the CAD Standards Manager and the Sheet Set Manager in AutoCAD (and Civil 3D).

Autodesk University 2020 was very different this year as we all worked through COVID and a digital experience. As instructors we were required to record our demo prior to the conference and then be available for a Question and Answer session during the conference dates. You would think that this would be easier but recording a demo has it’s challenges as you can edit and have to configure the videos per the instructions of the AU team. After a few long nights and some weekend time I was comfortable with the end result for both my classes.

I am very proud of my two classes.  The first class was a hands-on-lab named A Complete Guide to the Sheet Set Manager.  There are 15 exercises and a full dataset for you to download. This course has been setup for you to learn from each of the exercises with start and complete folders. You can start at any exercise by opening up the sheet set in that folder.

There have been some questions about the page and the files.  See the image below and my explanation for the areas.

  1. The entire recorded video that can be viewed on demand on the website for many years
  2. The presentation saved to a pdf file which you can download and follow along with the exercises.
  3. The 102 page handout covering everything that is included within the video and the class exercises.
  4. This is were you can download the handout and presentation.
  5. The lab dataset had to be put in a separate link due to the size limitations (I exceeded the limit!)
  6. This is the live QnA session that was conduction on 11-18 at 2pm EST.  There were over 800 people in there and many questions during the class. This will be available to view until December 21, 2020.

The second class was an instructional demo named Improving Quality with the CAD Standards Manager in AutoCAD.  There are 8 exercises and a full dataset for you to download in this class as well. This course has been setup for you to learn from each of the exercises with start and complete folders. You can start at any exercise by opening up the sheet set in that folder.

These classes will help you get started using the tools you need to succeed.

Have a very safe, happy, and healthy New Year. I hope to see all of you in person next year at Autodesk University 2021 and somewhere along the way.  I sent most of my shirts and books out but there are a few that I still need to send out so look for those soon, I had to order more and things have been delayed.

Check out my new intro for CAD Videos – look for this and more new and exciting information as we continue to learn and grow together in 2021. I plan to update all of the old videos with better sound quality and new content using the Autodesk 2021 product suite or 2022 when that comes out.

Have a great weekend everyone, a new post soon on Civil 3D or AutoCAD Tips n Tricks.

Sam
